Accounts & Tax

Statutory Accounts & Tax Returns

Compliance is a burden for small businesses, from Statutory Accounts & Corporation Tax Returns, to Self-Assessment. Too many accountants are just form-filling… not only will we help you comply in good time, we’ll help you understand what is being submitted, and what it means for your business.

Statutory Accounts

Submitting yearly accounts to Companies House is a legal requirement for all limited companies. Completing a set of statutory accounts is our bread and butter – but for too long accountants have been seen as a “necessary evil” – someone to fill forms in and see you once a year.

We’re disrupting that stereotype, and we make sure our core function – getting your accounts right – is a value-added service for your business.

  • Timely preparation and submission of statutory accounts – no last minute rush to deadlines.
  • An annual meeting at your preferred location (but better off out our bespoke office) – no set of accounts get submitted without you understanding your numbers.
  • Guidance on what the accounts mean for your business, and planning what’s next (see our Business Health Check Service).

Taxation

As a growing business with its sights set firmly on the horizon, you don’t want to be paying more tax than is necessary or be handed a hefty bill because you’ve underpaid.

As well as ensuring that your business remains tax compliant and avoids any costly mistakes, the team at A G Smith & Co will also be able to identify any areas where you can minimise tax liabilities – money that you can reinvest.

  • Business and personal tax preparation and submission.
  • Tax guidance, compliance and planning.
  • Support during tax investigations.
  • Pro-active tax-planning (see our Business Health Check Service).
Additional Core Services

Company Secretarial

Alongside your statutory accounts deadline, there’s lots of other company secretarial obligations that a limited company has. We can take care of your confirmation statements, dividend minutes and vouchers, share transfers, appointing and removing directors, just to name a few.

We also offer use of our address as our registered office – this keeps your personal address off of Companies House, and we’ll manage all your company post.

HMRC Enquiry Fee Protection

HMRC Investigations are on the rise, and it’s not just about whether or not you’ve got something to hide. HMRC can pull your name out of a hat, and investigate.

Our Tax Investigation Fee Protection service covers our professional costs in the event that you are selected for an investigation and ensures that you do not have to simply concede to HMRC’s demands without adequately defending yourself.
